Chocolate Chip Cookies

My sister Megan is the cookie queen, and she found this recipe that "melts her heart".  That makes me a fan already.  Yum!

1 C. butter flavored Crisco
1 C. brown sugar
1 C. sugar
2 eggs
1 t. vanilla
2 C. flour
3 1/2 t. baking powder
1 t. salt
1 t. baking soda
1/2 bag chocolate chips

Cream shortening and sugar.  Add eggs & vanilla.  Add dry stuff.  Bake at 350 degrees for 8-10 min.

I'll have to try it. I have never once in my life been happy with how my chocolate chip cookies turn out, and I've tried tons of recipes. I think I am cursed. They taste good but they never look all nice and moundish. They area always flat and blah looking.

I am a huge fan of chocolate chip cookies, so I think I'll have to give these a try!

OK, I made them, and they looked absolutely nothing like the photo! Very big and very flat. What did I do wrong? I prefer the smaller, thicker kind... I'm going to chill the dough before I bake any more.

I haven't made them yet (trying to lose weight & cookies are a HUGE vice!), but I'll ask my sister to post her thoughts & make sure she wrote it all down right.

All the ingredients are correct, the secret is how you put the dough onto the baking sheet. If you have it in a ball form it will turn out like the above cookies. If you put the dough on the sheet any flatter than that, they will spread and be flat. Hope this helps out!

I'm doubly tempted to test these now. Great.

Okay..made these yesterday. They were very good, but mine spread out very thin as well. I added 3/4-ish cup flour and preferred that for a cookie more my style. Jim preferred the skinny-mini's. Go figure!

I think this is the Crisco recipe. I LOVE IT!! It's the only cookie recipe I've found that works well.
